3D Printed Switch 2 Game Card Holder and Dock Mount: Sizes That Fit
Switch 2 game cards are about 31 x 21 x 3.3 mm, the same size as original Switch cards. A holder with slots 21.8 x 4.0 mm and 15-16 mm deep fits both with easy in-and-out. A 10-card holder printed in PLA by Mandarin 3D costs $10.56 delivered.
The Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 restocks on November 5 alongside the Ocarina of Time remake, and HORI has new Switch 2 accessories this month. Plenty of people are setting up a console this week. Card holders and dock mounts are among the most popular Switch 2 models on MakerWorld, and both are simple to get right if you start from the real sizes.
The sizes to design around
| Item | Size | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Game card (Switch and Switch 2) | about 31 x 21 x 3.3 mm | Common card spec; Nintendo says the slot takes both |
| Switch 2 with Joy-Con 2 attached | 116 x 272 x 13.9 mm, 534 g | Nintendo spec sheet |
| Thickest point (stick tips to ZL/ZR) | 30.7 mm | Nintendo spec sheet |
| microSD Express card | 15 x 11 x 1.0 mm | microSD standard |
The dock's exact outside size isn't something we'd guess at. Measure yours with calipers before designing a mount around it, and measure twice where it tapers. Our measuring guide shows how.
A game card holder
A card holder is a block with a row (or grid) of slots. The numbers that matter:
- Slot width: 21.8 mm for a 21 mm card. 0.4 mm per side lets cards drop in without catching.
- Slot thickness: 4.0 mm for a 3.3 mm card. Thinner slots grip, but printed slots come out slightly narrow, so 3.6 mm is the minimum.
- Slot depth: 15-16 mm. Half the card stays visible so you can read the label and pull it out.
- Spacing: 7.5 mm center to center. That leaves 3.5 mm of plastic between slots, enough to stay stiff.
- Base: 3-4 mm under the slots. Keeps the bottom solid.
For our example (10 slots, 81 x 30 x 20 mm), the quote came out at 24.2 g and about 47 minutes of print time. The fit reasoning is the same as any slot or lid; the tolerance guide has the table.
Variations that work:
- Two rows of 8 for 16 cards, staggered so labels show.
- Angled slots (15-20 degrees back) for a shelf display.
- microSD slots: 11.6 x 1.6 mm, 8 mm deep, along the front edge.
- Name or label raised on the front: keep letters 6 mm tall or more (text size guide).
A dock wall mount or stand
A dock mount is a shaped bracket that holds the dock against a wall or under a TV. What it needs:
- Room to breathe. The Switch 2 dock has a cooling fan. Leave the vents and fan area open and keep at least 10-15 mm of air behind it.
- Cable access. Openings for HDMI, power and LAN at the back, and room for the plugs' strain reliefs (about 25-30 mm deep).
- Thick walls. The console docks and undocks hundreds of times. Use walls of 3 mm or more (about 4 lines with a 0.4 mm nozzle) on the cradle and at the screw holes (wall thickness guide).
- Proper screws. Two screws into a stud or rated drywall anchors, with countersunk holes so the heads sit flush. Printed parts hold well in shear; don't rely on adhesive strips for 534 g plus the dock.
- A loose fit. 0.5 mm per side around the dock so it slides in without scraping.
PLA works for a dock mount in a normal room. It softens around 55-60 °C, so don't mount it right above a radiator, heater vent or in a hot car.
Your file, or one from the AI designer
Have a model? Upload your STL, 3MF or STEP for an instant price. If you downloaded it, check the license first: many free models (Creative Commons "NonCommercial", the default Printables license, and MakerWorld's standard license) don't allow paid printing, so we can't print them. Models you designed, and models licensed for paid printing, are fine (prohibited items).
No model? Describe it to the AI designer: "a game card holder for 10 Switch 2 cards, slots 21.8 x 4.0 mm, 16 mm deep, 7.5 mm apart". You'll see the 3D model and can change the slot count or angle before you order. It's a plain, unbranded design you own.
One thing we won't print: Nintendo, Zelda or other logos and characters, unless you own or license them. Plain holders in red, white, black or blue look great next to the console anyway.
What it costs
The 10-slot holder above quoted at $10.56 delivered on November 3, 2026: $3.50 order fee, $1.55 for the part, $5.51 USPS Ground Advantage, before tax. AI designer orders include a 5% design fee in the print price. Bigger holders and mounts cost more by weight and print time; see pricing.

Questions
How big are Switch 2 game cards?
About 31 mm tall, 21 mm wide and 3.3 mm thick, the same size as original Switch game cards; the Switch 2 slot takes both. Measure one with calipers before designing a tight holder.
What slot size holds a Switch game card?
21.8 x 4.0 mm and 15-16 mm deep. That leaves about 0.4 mm of play per side so cards drop in and lift out easily, with half the card showing.
How much does a 3D printed Switch card holder cost?
At Mandarin 3D, a 10-slot holder 81 x 30 x 20 mm (24 g, about 47 minutes) quoted at $10.56 delivered on Nov 3, 2026, before tax.
Can you print a Zelda or Nintendo logo on it?
No. We don't print brand logos or licensed characters unless you own or license them. Plain holders, your own designs, and models licensed for paid printing are fine.
