Some things we won't print, even if they'd be legal for you to make yourself. This protects you, our Printers, and our ability to keep running. When in doubt, ask us at orders@mandarin3d.com before you order.
If you upload a prohibited file we'll cancel the order and refund you. Repeat or deliberate attempts (especially weapons) end your account, and we may report illegal items to law enforcement.
We don't print
1. Weapons and weapon parts
- Firearms and any firearm part or accessory, finished or unfinished, functional or not: frames, receivers, lowers, slides, barrels, magazines, stocks, braces, grips, triggers, jigs, suppressors and solvent-trap kits, and anything that converts a firearm to automatic fire (auto sears, "switches"), and conversion kits of any kind.
- Ammunition, explosives, fireworks and their parts.
- Knives, blades, brass knuckles, stun guns, and other weapons designed to injure.
- Realistic replicas of firearms (unless clearly marked with a permanent blaze orange tip and not functional), including airsoft and gel-blaster bodies.
2. Illegal or dangerous items
- Drug paraphernalia, including pipes, bongs, grinders sold for drug use, and related parts.
- Lock-picking tools and keys for locks you don't own; copies of restricted or police/handcuff keys.
- Skimmers, ID or document fakes, license plates, badges or anything to impersonate a person, company or official.
- Parts to defeat safety, emissions or anti-theft systems.
3. Other people's intellectual property
- Designs you didn't create and don't have a license to have printed for pay. Many free models (including Creative Commons "NonCommercial" ones and the default Printables license) don't allow it.
- Items with brand names, logos or licensed characters unless you own or license them. Counterfeits or replicas of branded products.
- Copies of patented parts you don't have the right to make.
4. High-risk uses
We don't print parts intended or sold for:
- Food or drink contact (cups, utensils, cookie cutters, food molds). Printed plastic isn't food safe, and we never claim it is.
- Medical uses: devices, implants, prosthetics, splints, dental or surgical parts, PPE.
- Children 12 and under: toys and items designed mainly for children.
- Safety-critical or load-bearing uses where failure could hurt someone: climbing, vehicle, aircraft or drone structural parts, helmets, child seats, pressure vessels, ladders, lifting.
You can still order parts that are commonly used around these things (for example a cabinet knob or a phone stand), as long as they aren't for the uses above.
5. Offensive content
Sexually explicit items, items that promote violence or hatred against people or groups, and anything showing or targeting a real minor.
How we check
We review uploads automatically and by hand. Printers are told to refuse and flag anything that looks prohibited. We may ask what a part is for and cancel orders we're unsure about.
